UPDATE, December 8th

We did it Riverview! We did “Good” – Actually Great!

Holiday Gift Giving Success - 2022 Warwick Neck School
Everyone’s gifts are ready for delivery the Eve of December 7th! Wow! Ahead of schedule! Thank you so much!

Thank you to the entire RVIA community, and especially to those who contributed Gifts, Gift Cards and/or monetary donations that allowed us to gift $100.00 in Gift Cards to each of 6 families in need.

A very special Thank You Very Much to Erin Cabral (Drywa) who made this possible by connecting RVIA with the Warwick Neck School and their coordinators for this great holiday giving. Erin was quick to get info on each of the families in need, and she got us 2 more families added to our list when more of you wanted to get in the spirit of the holidays.

I realize many of us in Riverview have other charities, big families & friends, etc., that are your own special causes & recipients. Budgets get tight, and you can’t do it all. Santa’s helpers know that everything has gotten expensive! That’s OK if you couldn’t give this year. You still have, actually, as this “Gift Giving” represents the good will of all of Riverview.

We did good for our community, and that’s a reflection on everyone here!

One Happy Santa's Helper

A Holiday Cheers gathering will be held on the Eve of December 20th. Put on your favorite glasses and get your hair done for Christmas! This “after party” will be at 52 Mill Cove Road, following Carol & Porch/Lights Contest judging that will start at the Genest residence. Check out RVIA’s Events Calendar for the details.

We’ll be Caroling and doing final judging of the Front Door & Lights Decorating Contest before the holiday cheer at our house. Note: You don’t have to carol to come to the gathering. It’s casual… Elf costumes optional (but encouraged!).

Children are invited to attend with their parents. Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows & Candy Cane Dippers on the stovetop. (Baileys for the parents… wink wink…)

Ho Ho Ho!… Way to go!

Give a Gift to Warwick Neck School Families in Need

The holiday season is upon us! It’s a time to enjoy, reflect and also give support. I am writing to all of you today to ask for your involvement with a special charity effort RVIA is taking on this season.

RVIA is “adopting” children & their parents from the Warwick Neck School to help make each of their own holidays cheery & bright!

With the help of Erin Cabral, we’ve obtained a list of families from the school with their children’s needs and wishes. Our goal is to help make their Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or special holiday celebration fun and memorable.

We have to act quickly as a deadline for collection of Gifts is December 8th per WNS’s request.

This gives RVIA time to review gifts and wrap them for the families’ children. RVIA will also donate Gift Cards to the parents for groceries and personal items. And some treats too! And maybe some pet treats if we can find out if they have one or two.

CASH DONATIONS ARE ALSO REQUESTED! Any amount! How about $3.00.
RVIA will buy Gift Cards for the parents, and your cash contribution will help build a collection for these. RVIA itself will add to this amount as part of its annual charity giving.
Make Checks of any size payable to: RVIA

How to Adopt:

Please email me ASAP (and by MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21) if you would like to adopt a child OR even more than one child.

Note: You don’t have to adopt an entire family. I’d prefer to have people pick individual children so more of us RVIA-ers can get involved in the spirit of giving to these families.

Email: david.woisard@myrvia.org

Please spread the word if you know someone who hasn’t read or received RVIA’s E-Newsletter sent on Friday, 11/18/22.

Do I get assigned or do I get to choose a child?

WHEN YOU EMAIL ME, please indicate if you have a preference.
Like, “Family A, Boy Age 4”.

I cannot guarantee you will be assigned your choice, but if you’re the 1st to respond you will have priority over later respondents.

I WILL BE IN TOUCH ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22 WITH THE RESULTS OF EVERYONE’S RESPONSES. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I’ll let you know who your child (children) will be!

In terms of spending or the number of gifts, we want equitable giving to each child. No disappointments or excess to one individual. I, along with other RVIA members, will review each as a family group and RVIA can fill in here and here if needed.

REMEMBER I ASK FOR YOUR RESPONSE BY MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21.

Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to All!
