Mill Cove Road Improvements

Below are photos from the planting session that took place on September 20, 2014.

Hello Neighbors:

I have some exciting news! The long-awaited Mill Cove Road street-end project is expected to get underway next week. This project is being done to alleviate the flooding that occurs at the end of the road, which in turn hinders beach access.

Together with Save the Bay, the City will be digging up the end of the road, re-grading a portion of it, and putting gravel down to help with storm water runoff and create a better path from the road to the beach.

The neighborhood association has dedicated $1000 toward native plants to be installed after the road work is completed (likely in the fall, when we\’ll not have to worry as much about watering). We will be asking for volunteers to help with the planting if you are able to lend a hand.

Many thanks for your patience while this work is being completed. It should only take a few days, and there should be no real impediment to beach access in the meantime. I am sure the outcome will be worth the wait! Many thanks to the City and to Save the Bay (especially Wenley Ferguson, who has spearheaded this and similar projects at the ends of Van Zandt, Pender, Grove, and Rock Avenues) for giving attention to these areas.

Best regards,
Stephanie
