1 st Quarter Meeting
March 23, 2015
7 PM

Attendance: Pauline, Trish, Frank, Bill, Linda, Sandra, Kevin, Stephanie, Nancy,
George, Kathy, David,Charlene, Sarah L, Councilman Ladoucer, Rep Solomon,
Guest-Officer John Kelly

Meeting opened up with a quick review of board and office holders
A Request was issued to any board members in attendance to fill Recording
Secretary position...No one volunteered

Quarterly meeting dates were announced:
March 23/ June 15/ September 14/ December 14
All meeting held at 7pm
All meetings held in the guest home of the Schuster residence RiverVue ave

Frank Ferri confirmed stockholders meeting would be held Sunday November 15

Dates for association events were announced:
April 4 Easter Egg Hunt with Conimicut Association: held at
Conimicut Park 11AM
June 28 Independence Day Parade and Cook out 1PM
September 13 Block Party: 1 PM or 4 PM depending on football schedule
Possible location change due to house being built on
empty lot next to Lippitt Park
October 25 Halloween Parade and Hay Ride: Time: 3:30/4
December Christmas Caroling TBD

After review and announcements the floor was given to the Community Officer:
Officer John Kelly came in place of Officer Matt
His overview:
Burglary on Armstrong
Conimicut Beach had a an issue with people with pellet guns
Re-evaluations of homes are on-going...the people aren't in uniform and the Police
Dept. aren't given updates as to which neighborhoods they are in
Carter Road: Assault
Riverside Ave: Porch burglary (amazon boxes stolen)
Burnett Road: Larceny
Draper Ave: Be careful for people -- litter picking is on-going
Same with Warwick Neck Ave
47 Whipple will be vacated by end of April
Motel 6-drug busts: shoes being delivered with cocaine in soles

After Community Police Report: Ed Ladoucer
Gave a very detailed update on sewers-plan was finalized in September now
waiting for approval
Discussed pushing for Sewer Authority to be accountable and equitable payment
options for the project
Tidewater Bridge will be done by June
Discussed sidewalks on Warwick Neck Ave and Rocky Pt. Ave
2500 homes are on tax sale-- huge increase-indication of economic hardship
Ladoucer is pushing for new notices regarding taxes and tax sales because city hall
isn't be friendly or fair to taxpayers

After Councilman Report the floor was ceded to the Treasurer:
Trish Amirault reported there is over $10 k in bank account
Discussion of charitable causes was raised: idea of working with community groups
and issuing donations of $250 per charity to maintain our non-profit status

Discussed those ideas presented at Board Meeting:
Suggestions:

Food Drives near Easter and Thanksgiving
School Donations during Christmas (Warwick Neck School has requested
help in the past)
Monetary/Time Donations to local charitable groups:
Beach Street Shelter
Westbay Community Action
Oakland Beach Boys and Girls Club
Jonah Center
St. Mark's Food Pantry
Knights of Columbus lunches and dinners for the needy
Westbay Collaborative
Helping Elderly with shoveling/ gardening

Decided to try:
Month of May dedicated to "Mother's" : buy and collect donations for Elizabeth Buffum Chace House:

Pauline will contact EBC regarding what they need: It will be posted to
website and facebook accounts on May 1 with drive ending on or around May
20 and donations being dropped by May 30


Mid June to end of June:
Collection of gift cards lunch goods and snack items for
summer vacation for families in need:

We will work in conjunction with Warwick Neck School and will also contact
Community Food Pantry in Buttonwoods: Dates for drive will be posted to
website and facebook
August: a back to school supplies drive
We will contact Warwick Neck, Gorton and Vets. Dates for drive will be posted
to website and facebook.
December- January: diapers and formula drive: helping to ease the burden of higher
heating costs

Stephanie announced date and time for prepping for Egg Hunt:
March 27 11-11:30 at her guest home

Linda and David announce Adult Night: May 9 @7PM
$10 donation plus an app from guests
also bring item to donate for silent auction
THIS DATE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED! TBD and then posted to media

If 900 people show interest in a Rocky Point novelty license plate : the plate will cost
$40 ---$20 to Rocky Point Foundation

Discussed Lippitt Park Clean-Up:
Pauline will contact :KDQ/Hollywood/New Leaf for quotes for
cleaning/tidying/end of season
Board will discuss and choose landscaper
Trish will payout to landscaper

GENERAL DISCUSSIONS
Discussion of water pooling at end of Mill Cove at beach area.
Suggestion to ask city to rake beach.
Discussion of landscaping Lippitt Ave park. Better we do it. Kevin motion, Steve & Ray. Unanimous. Agreed to talk to city about the retaining wall end of Lippitt. Concern about deterioration.
Agreed to have a membership drive, Frank will chair.
Discussion to set dues at $15. Motion Linda, second Nancy. unanimous
